Bladder problems are usually not an emergency…until they are.
It’s easy to put yourself on the back burner and take care of the baby, of work, of your family, of the dog. But over time, your bladder problems can start to run your life. When you have leaks, or urgency, or bladder pain that is interrupting your life, it’s time to take control.

Leaking– whether it happens all the time or just every now and then. Leaking when you cough, sneeze or laugh. Leaking with jumping. Leaking when you stand up, or sit down. Avoiding exercise and activities because you are worried about leaking.
Urgency– Suddenly being aware you have to pee really bad, and NOW!. You may or may not have leaking on the way to the toilet, but it sure feels like you will if you don’t hurry.
Frequency– you feel like to have to go to the bathroom really often. (Sometimes paired with urgency) this symptom makes it hard to sit through a movie, or a meeting. It is a challenge when you have multiple errands to run, and makes traveling very difficult.
Bladder pain- pain and cramping, usually when you have to go. Cramping and pain are worse if you have to delay going. Sometimes there is burning and pain after you pee.
Trouble Emptying- It might be hard to get your stream started. You feel like you have to push or strain to get going. Or you might feel like there is still some left after you go.

PAINFUL BLADDER SYNDROME
I just wanted to say thanks! I have only had two sessions so far with Holly but just knowing that I have found a place that is able to help me overcome my pain has made me feel so much better. PBS is such a poorly misunderstood issue. The fact that you are providing this service is outstanding.
I am so happy I found Relief PT to allow me to regain my life. I look forward to the journey to a happier pelvic floor. Thank you!!
LEAKS AND FREQUENCY
My experience with Holly McDonald was stellar, she made potentially awkward visits so comfortable and easy. She has taught me a lot about the workings of my pelvis and has helped me immensely. My pelvic floor concerns have greatly improved with her expertise, kindness, and positive support.
BURNING AND ITCHING
I can whole heartedly recommend Relief Physical Therapy and Holly McDonald. After countless trips to the urologist, and to the hospital, I was given the option to seek out a pelvic floor specialist.
I walked into Relief Physical Therapy confused about my condition. How could this burning and itching NOT be a UTI? But antibiotics were not helping, and I was in severe pain. Holly educated me on what was happening in my pelvic floor. After 6 months of pain and burning, and no answers from my doctors, I am finally getting relief both physically and mentally, which is incredible. I have Holly to thank for this. She is truly gifted and most importantly, She’s helping me get my life back.
URINARY LEAKS
I actually saw something about pelvic floor therapy on Facebook, and decided to look into it. I was happy when I found Relief Physical Therapy was in Winston Salem. I had seen where a lot of people had gotten help online, with telehealth treatments, because there was not a therapist near them. It was great to see that there was someone local I could meet in person.
I’m so glad I did! On my first visit Holly checked my muscles. She explained to me that I wasn’t leaking because my muscles were weak. I was leaking because my body had gotten out of sink, and weren’t working together the right way. With her coaching and training, my body is working much better now. I am not leaking when I stand up, and I can walk slowly to the bathroom without having to feel like I’m going to pee myself.
URINARY PAIN AND URGENCY
The work I received at Relief Physical Therapy gave me back my life. I had been experiencing pain for three months, and then another six months with pain and also severe urgency. It was relentless. Having gone to several different doctors, having had every kind of invasive test, having tried all kinds of medicines, even self catheterization, I felt no relief. Finally I was told by a friend about Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy, and I found Holly. After my very first session I felt almost total relief. After a few more sessions, not only did I feel complete relief, I am now better than even before having the problem.
Miracles do happen. This is not by chance. It is by the very clear and sensitive work done by a physical therapist. Holly worked with her hands, both externally and internally. Her work is very professional and respectful. She has a gentle touch. She uses very specific touch for the specific problem. You feel safe. She also teaches you exercises that include both breathing and stretching that she has you do there and at home. In a sense, she gives you your own tools to both alleviate the problem if it starts up again, and also as a preventative. The internal work was a key element for me, and I am so glad that I found Relief PT.
